I saw a funny little TikTok video today of someone ranting about how full their weekends are until the end of summer.
We BEGGED for this last year.
And yet, we’re BEGGING for people to stop booking up our calendars this year.
It’s how it goes I suppose. We always want what we can’t have.
Aside from our concert roster filling up in August/September/October, we’re planning for friends visiting or being the friends that are visiting, local non-music events and even a whiskey tasting…
in Vegas…
by a pool with a view of the strip…
With Fitz and The Tantrums and St. Paul & The Broken Bones as poolside entertainment.
Who are we? Are we even whiskey tasting people? Are we going to stick out like sore thumbs (the answer to that one is likely yes). Honestly, I’m ready for it. I keep approaching these things like they are the first time I’ve done them in years. Each trip to a cabin, each journey down the road to a new-to-me trail, each time someone comes for dinner or for the weekend… I welcome each like it’s the first time I’ve done those things at all.
It’s certainly the first time I’ve had an excuse to pull out the nice napkins and all of our mismatched meat and cheese boards for the first time since the beginning of 2020. We all need a reason to celebrate, might as well make it fancy.
This weekend we’re heading north into Mount Rainier National Park for a weekend with my brother-in-law and his girlfriend. We’ll be staying in a cute motel made up of train cars converted into lodging. It sits adjacent to a mountain take surrounded buy tall trees with a view of Mount Rainier. I know, that oozes Pacific Northwest cuteness and I almost can’t handle it but I’m counting down the minutes until we hit the road. I can’t get enough of these small getaways. From stays on the lake with views of the mountains to hikes up a peak for views miles and miles in each direction… each one refills a bit of the tank that the last 15 months emptied.
That tank was almost empty… so I’m sure I’ll be planning for more adventures in places near and far… more getaways… more long weekends and I’m not too shy to not post all about them here. I hope you’re ready for it, we have lost time to make up for!
So tell me, what are you doing to fill up that tank?
